First of all, you should pay attention during the ceremony and remember to not fall asleep in the church. When the couple comes out of the church everyone throws rice at them. You mustn’t eat before because the wedding meal will be enormous. You should dress elegantly because Italians are always stylish. You mustn’t wear white; only the bride can wear a white dress. We suggest you learn a few Italian words: you should at least know “auguri,” which means “Congratulations!”
You should prepare yourself to eat a lot of starters, maybe beside a pool. Then we usually have two first courses and two second courses, and don’t forget that a big cake will be served at the end. A particular tradition is to give little gifts to the guests called “bomboniere” which usually come with a typical sweet called “confetti.”
The couple before the wedding creates a list in a specific shop so every guest can buy the right present for the bride and the groom. Italian weddings are over the top but will leave you with unforgettable memories!
It’s very nice!
When I get married I will follow your advice!!
This advice is true.
In Italy, it would be considered unpolite that guests wear white. Because it is the bride’s colour.
Of course don’t wear white…but don’t wear black either! At least to an American, British or Irish wedding! It has always surprised me to see Italians wearing black; abroad if you wear black they will ask you if you are going to a funeral!! Pastels and light colours are best 🙂
